A film trailer has many aims, it normally shows a short brief outline of the film that in the end will create a cliffhanger so that it will capture the audiances attention and make them want to go and see the film when it is releaced., it will show the main sections of a film but in very short clips with the use of jump cuts sometimes undercranking (fast motion) depending on the genre of the film. The whole plot of the story hasnt been shown and leaves the rest to the imagination of the audiance to percieve what will the continued. A film trailer will last all up to two minutes and will act as a little teaser towards the audiance.
A magasine front cover is simular to a trailer however it is in the context of text, pictures and colours. A magasine will not fully reveal the story however will give a outline to what the story is about aswell as the caracters featuring in the film itself. The advantage of using a the picture format is that it will reveal less than in a motion picture. However the disadvantage is that it doesnt create the same intencity of a motion picture so the emotion will not be put across to the audiance in the same way. the colour of the background, text, pictures and puff will often tell the audiance what genre the film is so that it will stand out to people that are fans of the genre.
A movie poster will normally show one or more of the main caracters in the shot so the audiance can see well known actors or maybe their favourites, they will be found at bus stops, shops and mainly outside of the cinema so when people are picking the often look for the design colour and layout so that they can pick the chosen genre. They also have score ratings, quotes, actors names etc to intice the people in.
